With the collaboration of several resource partners such as ENDA and Econews, ACORD will facilitate a conference on the implications of EPAs to food sovereignty. The conference is meant to give an introduction to 1) free trade agreements, 2) Economic Partnership Agreements, 3) agriculture and 4) food sovereignty, and ensure that the links between the different elements are made clear and simple to the variety in the audience we seek. Within these broad topics, the different groups from the different regions will participate in this conference, in order to bring in the discussion experiences. The objective will be to create awareness and familiarize a maximum number of participants to the WSF with the concepts of Food Sovereignty and related threats, particularly EPAs. The conference does not aim at building new arguments (see activity 6 for content and specialized session), but facilitating the understanding of a larger civil society and engage them into one or all of the above issue. One objective of the ACORD Pan Africa Programme (PAP) being to build a critical mass, this activity will ensure that we draw onto the non trade specialized institution for engagement that can lend support to the campaign.
