SUMMARY:Peacemaker or Warmonger? The European Unions Role in the Middle East Conflict
DESCRIPTION:The countdown for the war against Iran is on. Such a war w
ould surely lead to thousands of casualties among the civilian populat
ion and destabilise the region even more. Instead of starting honest n
egotiations the EU helps to escalate the conflict with Iran.\nEspecial
ly the EU3 (France\, Germany and Great Britain) are active as negotiat
ors but so far they only succeeded in escalating the conflict. The Fre
nch Government even threatened to use Atomic Weapons against so called
terror states – and obviously meant Iran. Is the global dilemma of
distinguishing between “peaceful” civil and dangerous military usa
ge of atomic energy really solved by just focussing on Iran’s nuclea
r programme? What does the Non Proliferation Treaty really imply regar
ding Tehran’s plans and are the nuclear plants and bombs of the EU-s
 tates really legal and legitimate?
