The purpose for Nairobi was to give new energies and produce new realities for social movements in consolidating their actions in Nairobi.

In Nairobi a new process with more vibrancy and action has been birthed.

After the forum which was the most covered event by the media in its history in the recent past.

This has led to formation of a coalition of network of social communication platform open to organizations, movements at Social Development office with the aim of opening up an on going talking process with the news media in creating ongoing links and keeping the process and continuous one.

This coalition intent to be an open space, resource for information dissemination on campaigns, events and actions to the members of the press and capacity building communication strategies.

The platform intents to be a vehicle to deliver more comprehensive attention by the media to social struggles and accurate reporting of the social process. It aims to involve people, policy makers and organizations in debates, formulation of alternatives and policy and building of sustainable actions begging at the local levels but with the aim of going regional and global.

At SODNET an organization which hosted the organizing secretariat for the just concluded event a new communication partnership is being formulated.

Drawing from the WSF2007 experience the partnership comprises of all local and international partners that were in the forum begging with most of them who were part of the communication commission for the event organizing committee.

Mainly platform will be a open media space for them to disseminate information, relate with journalists and create attractive news sources for journalists and facilitate ongoing coverage of campaigns and actions.

The desk will also generate news updates and be clearing house for current affairs within social movements for debates and public participation.

7. Building a world order based on sovereignty, self determination and rights of peoples.

9. Building real democratic political structures and institutions with full people’s participation on decisions and control of public affairs and resources.
