AS PARTICIPANTS at the just concluded World Social Forum in Nairobi raged with socialist fervour against ugly capitalism and filthy globalisation by refusing to buy products made by certain multinationals and demonstrating against all manner of economic evil, they surely cannot have failed to notice how some multinationals managed to muscle in on the act regardless. For instance, every delegate to the WSF was offered a free Celtel mobile phone line and some phone credit to help them keep in touch during their stay in Nairobi. Ironic isn’t the word.
