We have just returned from Africa where we’ve displayed our sculpture ‘In the Name of God’ at the World Social Forum (WSF) in Nairobi. The piece of art depicting a crucified pregnant teenager sparked plenty of debate and got a lot of contacts to people who are ready to help promoting the sculpture and its message around the world. Especially feminist circles backed the initiative. In fact, we also met some opponents, see press release below.
We have uploaded a lot of photos on our website. There you’ll also find diary notes (blogs) by Anna Meltesen, one of our volunteers. We were not able to upload until now, as the Internet connections in Nairobi were miserable.
We express our gratitude to the 14 Danes, the 8 Ugandan actors and the 2 Kenyan artists who helped us displaying the sculpture and explain about it at the WSF and in the streets of Nairobi.
For us, the meeting with Kenya and the Kenyans was a rich experience, maybe the many photos will give you an impression of that.
