Nobel peace laureate Desmond Tutu will be a key speaker at a theologians’ meeting in Nairobi.
More than 250 delegates are expected to attend the second World Forum on Theology and Liberation (WFTL).
A press statement issued by the forum’s coordinators said the theologians would reflect on “Spirituality for Another Possible World” for four days before converging at the World Social Forum scheduled to open on Saturday at the Moi Sports Complex, Kasarani.
On Thursday, participants will attend workshops on human rights and the struggle for social justice.
“In the globalised era, the world will either survive together, or be oppressed together. Liberation at this stage is necessarily worldwide, and so is theology,” the statement said.
The proposals of the WFTL will be tabled for discussion at the World Social Forum, whose motto is “Another World is Possible”.
