The current trends in the sexual revolution are frightening.
During the just concluded World Social Forum at Moi International Sports Centre, Kenyan gays, lesbians and trans-sexuals, pulled a mammoth crowd when they openly demanded for their rights. They have already formed a coalition, Gay and Lesbians Coalition that is advocating for their rights after a long suffering from bias, violence and other forms of violation.
Not so long ago, the South African Parliament passed a law that recognises gay marriages in that country. This followed a move by the US Episcopal Church to ordain gay bishops in the church.
Netherlands was the first country to legalise marriages of same-sex couples, other countries in the world are on the course. Germany passed a law five years ago that recognises same-sex marriages. Despite Government approval of same-sex unions, gays and lesbians continue to face a lot of challenges in European countries.
In Kenya, it will not be long before we see public parades and protests in the streets calling for the recognition of same-sex marriages. Marriage, according to its contextual meaning will be re-defined. The words "man and woman" will be replaced with the word "spouse."
Gays, lesbians, trans-sexuals, bisexuals, heterosexuals name them; will seek Government approval of their marriage.
The big question that remains: should we sit and watch as same-sex relationships wipe away the respect of our traditional marriage?
