Proposals for future actions

Memory of the 4th day activities on proposals for future actions

One of the main innovations of the 7th edition of the World Social Forum was the introduction of the “4th Day” – a day of convergences.

The idea behind this was to enrich the WSF format by introducing a day in which all organizations that were keen to present proposals for actions, campaigns and struggles would make them visible during the fourth day of the Forum.

The afternoon of the 4th day – January 24th - was dedicated to presentations of all the proposal or calls for action. A total of 21 rooms were designated for that purpose according to the thematic areas of the proposals identified by the International Council Content and Methodology Commission during its December 2006 meeting in Nairobi.


The 21 thematic areas were as follows:

  4. Housing
  5. Women Struggles
  6. Dignity / Diversity
  7. Human Rights
  8. Youth
  9. Food Sovereignty / Land Reform
  10. Labour
  11. Education
  12. Environment / Energy
  13. Health
  14. Knowledge / Information
  15. Debt
  16. Migrations
  17. Free Trade
  18. Culture
  19. Transnational Corporations
  20. Children
  21. Alternative Economies

Make the world a better place


Join and participate in making the world a better place through the over 400 proposals written by a number of organizations during the World Social Forum event in Nairobi.

Wondering how to participate?

Look at the proposals of the 4th day. Identify the area of you interest and a proposal for action that you would like to participate in. You can then get in touch with the organizers of that particular activity and work together to realize the success of that proposed activity. You will find relevant contact information for  all proposals.

Incase you would like to include your own proposals - for other organizations to get in touch with you - please send it to the WSF2007 Secretariat: memory@wsf2007.org. In your email, please indicate the following:

  • The title of the proposal,
  • Name of the organizations proposing the activity,
  • Which of the 21 thematic areas it falls under,
  • A brief description of the activity.
